CVH 0.4 Release & What's To Come
Chihiro's Vore Harem 0.4 has been released
After dragging my feet for a while, I decided to just release the 0.4 update for Chihiro's Vore Harem super early in the morning yesterday. It was about 95% to where I wanted it to be, but I knew that the last 5% would've made it take at least another month. I'd rather have something not completely done instead of being pushed back a lot, especially since I'll finish stuff next time.

The bulk of what I did for the last update was a massive overhaul of the game menu. I wanted to try my best to make it look and feel something like the actual menus in the series, specifically drawing a lot from V3. I did also do some writing as well, adding some more to Mikan and Mukuro's routes, as well as making a route for Toko + Komaru. I started making CGs, but the only ones I could do was a handful for the beginning of the Celeste route. It helped that I already made the scene for the bedroom a long time ago.

I also made a little mini game in the menu, Alter Ego, that I'm going to probably going to flesh out in the next update. I know I didn't have to make the little mini game, but it was a fun distraction to help me get the update out. I'm really glad that the update's finally out, so now I can move onto other things.

What I learned
In doing this update, I realized I need to make future game updates much smaller, as the last little bit ends up pushing the release date out quite a bit. It took roughly a year to get through the 3 games I've got, and I don't want it to take 5-10 years for me to make a significant amount of progress on anything. I feel like I'd prefer each update being smaller over each update taking months to get out. If I limit it anywhere between 3 weeks and a month for each update, then I'll have a healthier relationship with my work. It helps that most of the big systems have already been figured out for my games. Now I gotta focus on finetuning everything and doing the actual meat of the games.

Dream Diver's 0.4 update
Speaking of smaller updates, I already planned out what I'm doing for the next Dream Diver update. I'm excited because this update is mostly going to be me making pixel art and low poly models. I'm also going to try spending a couple of days drawing out a bunch of concept art. In the past, I mostly ran on vibes. It's not really sustainable to do that, so it would be a good idea to properly plan things going forward.

Update Plans
High Priority
- Fix the bug that prevents exiting the konbini
- Fix controls for keyboard + controller, add a button to reset the camera
- Clean the first library room up to run smoother
- Begin working on the new library zone
Medium Priority
- Finish walking sprites for Velma and Sasha
- Add flavor text / interactables
Low Priority
- Begin working on Sasha's closet
- Add more decorations for Sasha's room
- Begin working on the battle system

In closing
I'm going to take a few days to relax, but I am going to try my best to get an update for each game out by the end of the year. I have a feeling Dream Diver might be the most in depth of that because of how many moving parts there are. It might be a pretty tight deadline, roughly a month for each game, but if I stay persistent it might help me learn to manage my time better. I've already learned the basics of game making, so hopefully things should run smoother going forward. I want to try my best to be more consistent when it comes to getting things out, and I'm excited to see if I can.

Plans Moving Forward
Plans for the next couple updates
After updating the site, I ended up focusing on the update for Chihiro's Vore Harem. I've been super tired recently for some reason, so progress has been slower than I'd like. On the plus side, the only things I have left to do are tightening up the new dialogue to be more in character and making sure everything works fine. I planned to add more CGs than I did, but by the end of the first round of CGs I was pretty exhausted. Still, this update shows off some of the stuff I learned doing the last Welcome To Oasis update. I planned on doing more with this update, but I think I burned myself out a bit. Although, the stuff with menus, the Spanish translation, and the updated main menu screen are a massive addition. I'm going to try my best to get the update out sometime this weekend. If not, I'll shoot for before September.

Thinking of the next Dream Diver update, I want to focus on a few things. There's a few bugs I need to fix up, mainly how people get stuck in the konbini (oops, sorry lol x.x). I also wanna get the keyboard / controller controls fixed. There's a lot of textures I want to finish up and do, as well as finishing the pixel art for Sasha and Velma. I also might work on getting a very basic version of the combat system in, but that's just if I have the energy for it. I also wanted to do some work on the next area for the library, as well as opening up Sasha's closet into a sort of cozy clubhouse. If time / energy permits it, I do wanna add some more wall decorations and stuff so things aren't so empty. The bulk of the next Dream Diver update is gonna be visual stuff, so I'm excited about that.

Time management
The main thing I want to focus on going forward is making sure updates don't take longer than a month. I noticed that when I spend more than around a month working on an update, my energy tapers off significantly and everything I do takes much longer. I started to plan out future updates recently, and hopefully I can cycle through my 3 projects at least one more time before 2026. The next updates for all 3 projects are mostly going to be focused on cleaning stuff up and fixing bugs.

I recently got hired somewhere for the first time in a long time, so hopefully me regularly getting out of the house and physically being around other people will help my mental health. It's not even 20 hours a week, so I'll have plenty of time left over for game dev stuff and I'll be able to use the money from said job to pay for most of my rent and other expenses. I've also been at my current home for around 4 months, which is crazy to think about. I think the combination of a stable living situation and not needing to look for work will be an enormous boost for my mental health, and will make it so that I can get stuff out faster due to me being able to focus more.

In the meantime, I'm going to focus on getting the Chihiro's Vore Harem update out, as well as figuring out how to relax. Relaxing has always been a huge problem for me, but now I can justify chilling out a bit instead of just worrying so much I freeze up.

And We're Back
I can rest now
I'm proud of everything I've done over the past few days. The payment processor bullshit made me shift into "let's fucking go" mode and I had to figure out some way to help people out that were effected by the blanket censorship shit going on. The website ended up coming together wonderfully, and I got some good input from others. I wasn't expecting so many people to look at my site, and it's nice seeing that I am making some sort of impression on people. It's cool that I was able to get in touch with a lot of people, and set something up that I can add onto for years to come. I don't plan on stopping this anytime soon, as I've always been very passionate about art.

What adult art means to me
Adult art in particular is a window into true human expression, in my eyes. It already is a social taboo, so people have less reason to hide themselves. Sure, a lot of people are assholes and abusive dickheads, but a lot of people also have genuine passion about what they do. One of the reasons I got into making porn games in the first place is there are some stories you can't tell fully without having the more raunchy and gritty shit in.

One of my biggest gripes with mainstream media is the portrayal of sex as something that's a joke or dangerous. Men are dumbasses that only care about being horny and fucking women, but if they want to fuck men or want to show actual caring emotions it's something to laugh at. Though the worst part is the portrayal of female sexuality in mainstream media. Women are supposed to be docile and not want to have sex so they have to be pressured into it. If a woman is interested in other women, they're only doing it because men find it attractive, or they're just experimenting, or "every woman has those thoughts." If a woman has any aggressive bone in her body she's supposed to be someone you can fix, the first instance of this trope I can think of being Taming of the Shrew. Alternatively, if a woman isn't a perfect sex object, she's gross and something to be laughed at. I also HATE the idea that women aren't supposed to be sexual at all, but if they are it's something to be laughed at. For example in the Simpsons and Family Guy there was an episode where the male lead was sexually abused by his wife, and it's like "Oh haha isn't that funny the man was weak and the woman was agressive." It's also a pretty common trope for the IDEA of women reading smut is absolutely hilarious, like "Silly women, you're not SUPPOSED to like sex!"

I don't like the portrayal of people in mainstream media related to sex. It's all based off of what the dudebros think of how it is. As someone who was born in the mid 90's, I remember how prominent all of this shit was growing up. Even though I never knew why, all those jokes would make me feel uncomfortable. Of course, the response if I ever did speak up about it was to not take it so seriously because it was just a joke. It's pretty common for people who speak up about how fucked up sexual social standards are is to be laughed at or worse. Because of that, I really wanted to showcase people actually being people.

A trope I personally dislike in a lot of porn games is women having the personality of "My main hobby is fucking men, and some other stuff too I guess." Every "hobby" is just some sort of stereotype. I think the common thing people do to wave it off is go "Well that's just what porn is like, it's not supposed to have that much depth." I disagree, because porn is something that's very intimate, and people are very vunerable while interacting with it due to the nature of it being a social taboo. I feel like it's a good space to explore human relationships and sexuality. It's not perfect or cut and dry. It's confusing. It's messy. It's complicated. Most of the time nobody knows what the fuck they're doing. There's nothing wrong with that, it's just a part of being human.

What my goals as an artist are
I want to use my experiences to hopefully push people to be better. I know it's a lofty goal, but if I can help at least one person better themselves, then it will be worth it in my eyes. There's a reason why I'm developing a fleshed out world for this. The world is shitty, and I want to create a world I want to immerse myself in. Everything sucks, so I want to make something that gives people hope. If I make something that's adult, then I don't need to worry about sanitizing myself or censoring myself in order to abide by some random bullshit that was decided by some stuffy person in a suit who's never had to work for anything in their life. I never had many friends growing up, and I still have issues connecting to people. I want to give people reassurance that healing is possible. It's possible to find purpose from within. It's possible to keep going despite everything.

I've been preparing myself for writing heavier stuff going forward. Obviously I'll prep people that certain stories will be a bit heavier, but I feel it would be a good way to really showcase how I feel about people, and show people they can push through despite everything. In short, I'm trying to make the things I want to see, and I want to give people hope. Shit's fucked right now, so I want to do what I can to help.

What now?
In terms of the game stuff, I had to take a break because I had to work on the website and try networking with people. I did a lot over the past week, and it was really exhausting. Hopefully in the next couple days I can get back to finishing this update. The only things I've gotta do are just writing, doing CGs, and testing it.

Hopefully it shouldn't take too long, and I'm going to try only doing what I feel is important. If I feel really interested in doing a CG for a couple scenes, I probably will. It would be cool if I could get the Chihiro game's update out on 8/8, but I feel like unless I was really pushing to get it done nonstop, I wouldn't be able to. I'm going to try relaxing for a bit, and then when I get my energy back I'm going to work on stuff again. Hopefully I can get this update out in a few weeks.

I also finished Kingdom Hearts 3 so that was fun. I feel like people that got SUPER upset at the ending don't understand that if you're into Kingdom Hearts you're kinda just along for the ride and gotta roll with stuff (also playing all of the games that were seen as "not essential to play"). I might do an in depth review when I've had some time to run through it in my head.

I'm really excited to work on Dream Diver again, so I'm going to do my best to finish the Chihiro's Vore Harem update soon. Thanks again everyone for all of your support, it means a lot to me.

Let's Get This Show On The Road!
Getting my ass into gear
It's a bit ironic (in a messed up way) that I started making my own site right before this stuff started really going down. I'm done with the bulk of the work I need to do on my website, and I'll update it whenever I feel I need to. I also started reaching out to different NSFW artists and game devs to see if they wanna be put on my site. I feel like I'm being annoying, but I'm trying my best to be polite. I might start making some pages for NSFW games as well, and possibly mine just so that I have a template for people who don't have a game page because it got taken down by Steam or Itch. It'd only be for free games and demos, cause figuring out financial stuff is a bit out of what I'm able to do at the moment.

Back to the games
Since everything is set up on my end, I want to focus on finishing my update for Chihiro's Vore Harem. Over the month or so after releasing Welcome To Oasis' 0.3 update; I spent a lot of time working on the UI for Chihiro's Vore Harem, and making it feel more like a Danganronpa game. There's a few quirks I want to figure out eventually, but the hard stuff is done. It feels way different than the 0.3 release, and is closer to how I wanted it to be when I started working on it. Hopefully, this and Welcome to Oasis can show people that Ren'Py is more powerful as a game engine than they think.

As said before, I have that translation discord server, so the next Chihiro's Vore Harem update will have a Latin American Spanish translation thanks to a couple volunteers.

I'm also going use some of the things I learned for WTO's 0.3 update to add a bunch of CGs. It's not going to be as extensive as WTO's 0.3 update, because the UI changes were already a huge effort on my part.

Story-wise, I'm expanding on the Mukuro and Mikan routes. I'm also adding a Tokomaru route because I replayed Ultra Despair Girls and I love how cute Toko and Komaru are together. I'm also adding Junko, because she's really fun to write.

Fighting burnout
I'm glad that I'm cycling through 3 games, because I'm starting to feel some burnout with CVH. Though I'm getting excited to work on Dream Diver again, and I've been playing through Kingdom Hearts 3 for the first time recently, cause the series is an inspiration for Dream Diver. I'll probably replay the Psychonauts games because they're another big inspiration for Dream Diver. The name Sasha is a reference to Sasha Nein, but I don't think I realized that when I made her a couple years back lol.

If I keep releasing updates around once a month and keep leap frogging from game to game, hopefully I won't get too burnt out and I can consistently release stuff. I'm not the type of person to be laser focused on one creative project, I get distracted. I'll try my best so things can start really progressing, and I appreciate everyone who's been patient with me.

She Speaks!
Hey there!
I wanted to set up a blog on my site so that people can check in regularly without needing to figure out how to find non-game posts on Itch. I'd actually made this site because I wanted a space for my stuff that was able to be how I saw fit. I spent a couple days really trying to figure out the basics of HTML, and I'm still learning.

With the stuff regarding payment processors recently, I realized my decision couldn't have come at a better time. From how many visits my site has been getting, I realized that I could use that traffic to showcase people. I also wanted to have a list of different NSFW artists and games.

One of my friends actually had their game (Shuichi's Vore Adventure) removed from Itch, and I posted it on the list with a link to the MEGA download. I realized that it might be a good idea to make basic landing pages for the games. It wouldn't take that much effort, and I feel like it would be a good way to show what a game's like if it's not on Itch, Steam, or any other platform.

The only things I don't allow is stuff with generative AI material, stuff that's hate speech, and stuff that's illegal. I believe that art is an extension of the human soul, and art is human expression. Art should be uncomfortable and gross and confusing, because people are. To act like art should be completely pure and devoid of "degeneracy" is to turn your back on the human condition.

Why won't I allow generative AI?
I won't accept generative AI because the goal of its usage is to make people not rely on their brains, to turn themselves and their desires over to companies and people in charge. The people funding AI don't want to you wonder, explore, question things, or think for yourself. They want you to ask the magic answer creator what you should do. They want you to rely on a program that can be manipulated and told to spit out lies. It's not okay just because it does something you like.

However, people can change their minds on stuff. We have to really push back against people using it, and ask if they really don't want to think for themselves anymore.

When AI started to be popularized in early 2023, I freaked out because I could see what was coming. Now you have people asking chatGPT to decide everything for them. It's not hard to look up and see people's brains getting fried because they were overly trustworthy of AI chatbots and took its word as the truth, encouraging horrible decisions.

Recently I saw an ad on the Chuck-E-Cheese Twitter that was an AI-generated video with a number of children in it, and something seems insanely fucked up about being able to generate videos of children that look 99.99% realistic. It's not the 1980's anymore. Stuff can look REAL now, and that's terrifying.

Why won't I allow hate speech?
"But Dessy, if you don't allow this, aren't you being a hypocrite?" It can be easy to go "We need to hear other people out. They might just be misinformed." We need to cut hatred at the root when we can. We need to create spaces that don't tolerate intolerance. When bad actors and malicious people are able to freely speak without being questioned or pushed back on, then they take control of everything. This political landscape is the result of people as a whole going "I don't want to cause problems. I don't want to be mean. If I do that I'll be just as bad as them."

It's people saying "Technically I'm not breaking any rules, I'm not hurting anyone, I just want discussion. It's not censoring art, it's protecting people from being inspired by it to do horrible things. I'm not bigoted, I just don't think children should be exposed to that. I don't hate trans people, I just think that trans women are at an unfair advantage in sports." It harkens back to the days when people said that black people had a genetic disposition to being violent and aggressive (as if that sentiment has gone away).

If you humor these people, and take what they say as fact, they'll hurt people. They'll make accepting spaces into ghost towns. The goal is to upset people, divert attention from positive change, and divide people. At this point, it's too late to "hear them out". Doing that is the reason why we're in this mess.

We need be firm about creating spaces that ACTUALLY accept people, not just accept whatever you find aesthetically appealing. We can't discriminate based on people being "weird". If someone just wants to exist and their stuff is just weird, then they should be able to. Weird people should be able to exist, because the alternative is everyone being exactly the same: An uncanny Pleasantville where nothing bad ever happens, because every bit of humanity that doesn't align with the status quo is snubbed out.

What's next for this site?
Over the next few weeks, I want to try learning more stuff related to coding in HTML, CSS, and possibly some Javascript as well. I want to keep the site basic and not too flashy, because I know that some people don't have good internet. I want to try keeping it small, but with enough personality to show that it's mine.

I have a lot of ideas for things to come. For example, if the games / artists lists get big enough then I'd make subpages for game genres or artist mediums. Also figuring out how to code in a more streamlined way, using CSS styles to make the banner / sidebar consistent.

If you're interested in being featured on my artists or games list, then a guide is on each respective page.

Onto the game stuff!
I spent a few weeks COMPLETELY overhauling Chihiro's Vore Harem's menus, so now it looks and feels a lot closer to the Danganronpa games. I'm done with the majority of the coding bits, and am focusing on writing. What I plan to add in this update is adding a Tokomaru route, adding Junko & Komaru, and expanding on the Mukuro and Mikan routes. I also plan on adding some more CGs, because I've learned a lot concerning using Koikatsu when I did the Welcome to Oasis 0.3 update.

Also! I decided to set up a translator discord because a number of people have offered in the past, and it would be better if I had it all done in one place. If you're interested, go on over to the translations page for info! I want to be able to reach people, and I don't want to just focus on English speaking countries. My goal is to make my art accessible to people, and translations are a huge way to do that.

I really appreciate everyone who's been patient with me and has stuck around despite it all. Life's been rough, and I want to try making things better. If I can save at least one person, then everything will be worth it.

Welcome
I wanted to make a blog for me to post my thoughts without it being too complicated. I'm not gonna post under any schedule, just whenever I feel like it.
